'MICROCOSM'. Gold Medal winner at the 2003 Chelsea Flower Show.

Garden designed and planted by Mark Payne left. Sculptural wall units made by Michael Peacock.

Michael and Mark met for the first time, in June 2002, at the Stansted Garden Show, near Portsmouth. They realised that they thought on similar lines. Mark was looking for someone to help develop his ideas, and Michael had a desire to progress in the outdoor sculptor scene. Mark had designed the winning garden some time ago, but needed someone with Michaels' expertise in Three Dimentional Design, and Mould Making to bring the garden to fruition.

This led to the production of 'Microcosm', the winner of a Gold Medal at Chelsea Flower Show 2003, and also winner of a glass engraved Rosebowl, for the Best Garden in the Chic Garden category. This was a great feat considering that it was the first time that Mark had designed a Chelsea Garden in his own right, rather than part of a College group, and the first time Michael had been involved in the production of a Chelsea Garden.

This wall system is very simple, allowing any number of wall segments to be used. As the segments are reversable a circuler plan need not be adhered to and, being made from Glass Reinforced Cement, are weather tolerant. The combination of materials, makes the wall sections light, and strong. All the segments can be carried by two people,

Michael is looking forward to more new challenges in the outdoor sculpture scene and, has already received enquiries for\par input into other projects in the not too distant future. Mark and Michael hope to have further collaborations.
